We kicked off the first of our “Special Sessions” this past holiday season with huge success. The price was way too low to repeat…but all I can say is it was a great deal because it included a private, fun filled portrait session in our really cool winter wonderland and a high res CD!! These […]
Amy began her career as a photojournalist twenty years ago at a chain of newspapers in Massachusetts. In her four years at the paper, Amy discovered the thrill of being a photojournalist. Every new assignment was a passport into someone's life and a new opportunity to learn about life and share her experience. At this point, she began using her skills to photograph weddings by assisting her colleagues with their wedding work.
Wanting to explore the American West and return to a society of old fashioned values and traditions as she had experienced in Vermont as a college student, Amy moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She worked and lived on ranches, capturing the connection between ranchers, their livestock and the land; documenting a lifestyle in threat of extinction. Her words and images were published in local newspapers and magazines, and exhibited in galleries and museums.
Amy and her husband Kevin, their two daughters, Sophie and Eliza, and dog, Clifford, have been living in Annapolis for ten years.
With the help of her associate David Spence, Amy has been voted "One of Washington's Best Wedding Photographers" by the Washingtonian Magazine for the past five years.
Associate David Spence
David became inspired by photojournalism while working at The Daily Collegian student newspaper as a student at Penn State University. Upon graduation, David followed his love of telling people’s stories while working as a photojournalist for newspapers in Western Ohio and mid-Maryland. It was during these years that he began to see the potential of using photography to share life’s intimate experiences.
After working in a newspaper setting for more than a decade, David found a new love – documenting one of the most important days in a couple’s life, their wedding day. He joined Amy Raab Photography as an assistant in 2003.
David enjoys working with couples to vividly bring out their passion for one another with his camera. It is the quiet unscripted moments – a secret smile, a mother’s pride, a child’s sleepy surrender on a relative’s shoulder, that he looks forward to capturing during each special day.
David lives in historic downtown Frederick, Maryland, with his wife, Molly, kids Jackson and Phoebe, and dog Brooks.
