Katie and Monroe are getting married this July. Jo is doing the flowers, and our buddy Chris Laich is going to be spinning the tunes. Katie and Monroe are living in Dallas now, so it’s been tough trying to get together for their engagement session. We finally got it together and combined it with a site visit to their church, which I absolutely LOVE. I am so excited for their big day to come!
We actually started out at George Washington’s River Farm in Alexandria, since it is practically in Katie’s backyard. It was about 1 o’clock on a hot, cloudless day, so we just had to rely on the architecture for a backdrop instead of the gardens. I love the simplicity of this image.
I love their church, St. Paul’s Episcopal. The architecture is so unusual for this area. I feel like one of those lucky California photographers whose venues just lend themselves to gorgeous photos. Inside the church it’s all white, with old-fashioned pews and an enormous pipe organ in the balcony. What’s not to love about that?!
I knew from the start that Monroe was not into PDA. (Not looking forward to smooching all over Alexandria!) Toward the end of the session we found this shady, secluded spot and Katie tried to plant a few kisses on him.
Not well received … maybe she should get some yummy-flavored lipstick for their wedding day!?
