Erin & Rob

Capturing Erin and Rob’s story in eight hours was quite a challenge. If she and her bridesmaids had not been so stunningly beautiful it would have been little easier. But there was so much more…the gorgeous USNA Chapel (where Erin’s parents were also married), the ensemble of Rob’s Marine, Air Force and Navy buddies and the camaraderie between them, the surprise visit from TLC’s Ace of Cakes film crew to shoot the groom’s cake, an F/A 18 Hornet fighter jet, made by the artisans at Charm City Cakes….and so much more. The day flew by at mach speed as Alison and I scrambled to capture it all!

I love the light and decor in the Annapolis Westin Hotel. So clean and modern.

Erin and her lovely maids!

May is for big, feathery soft and fragrant peonies!

Gorgeous flowers by Cynthia of Flower Follies.

The obligatory sword spanking for the bride. Welcome to the military, Mrs. Guyette!

Lots of hoopla surrounding the groom’s cake.

The wedding cake, by Patisserie Poupon in Baltimore, wasn’t too shabby, either…

Mr. Heaton gives a shout out to all of his fellow comrades in the room.

The grown ups were the first to belly up to the candy bar.

Wayne and the Untouchables provided the great tunes for all the dancing.

Jenny and Dave’s Engagement

Last Monday afternoon I headed south out of Annapolis for a two hour drive to St. Mary’s County for an adventurous evening with Jenny and Dave, who are getting married next weekend! Once I arrived at their little hideaway, St. George’s Island, and learned their story; a classic summer romance — city girls falls in love with townie — I fell in love, too!  Their story is so romantic, as is the scenery…beach cottages tucked among the tall pines and the Chesapeake Bay as far as the eye can see. The perfect ending to a perfect evening was my souvenir; fresh rockfish!
I am so excited for their wedding: a cruise in Annapolis, of course!

Dave’s old stomping grounds; the beach cottage and the street he grew up on.

The marina where they keep their fishing boat is so rustic and authentic. I could have spent hours there.

Dave in his element.

Tomorrow night’s dinner…fresh rockfish. This is the life!

Erin and James

A recipe for the perfect wedding: take two laid back people and their fun loving friends and families, bring them together at the gorgeous USNA for their marriage ceremony, and then send them to the reception across the Chesapeake Bay on a boat and let them party all night at the water’s edge!

-AR and DSS

The flowers, by Flower Follies, were amazing!
Standing at the threshold of this chapel as a newly married B&G must be a pretty amazing feeling. James sure is enjoying the glory!
Erin and James enter Bancroft Hall. I just love this place. I do this one every time and never get sick of it!
The pipes parade: after hoofing it all over the academy, (up and down hundreds of stairs..oh, my aching legs on Sunday!) we paraded over to the City Dock to catch a boat to the reception. Randy Welch had all the heads turning!
Even on his wedding day, James was making sure everything was ship shape.
The Silver Swan Bayside has an amazing lawn overlooking the bay. Everyone was enjoying the beautiful weather!
James was the popular guy at the cigar bar, even signing cigars for his fans!
Our timing was perfect for sunset photos. I love when that happens! And I love to get  gorgeous, large family group shots, too…this one all came together with only moments to spare before the sunset.

I love how Doug Segree and his band lets everyone get up on stage and bang on their instruments. He said as long as nothing gets broken it’s cool! (more cowbell, James!!!)

Amie Decker - What an amazing wedding!!! The pictures are just beautiful Amy. I LOVE the one of all the girls on the boat! Congratulations Maitlands.

Take Care,

Becky and Stephen: Part II

Becky and Steve tied the knot last November with an intimate ceremony in DC. I have been looking forward to their big bash at Chesapeake Bay Foundation which was to be my first wedding of 2010! The cool, wet weather made for a romantic and cozy reception filled with a lot of fun friends and family and a fabulous band from NYC. It was such a great night, but so bittersweet…I wish there were a Part III!

Let’s get crackin! It was a full blown Maryland shellfish fest created by none other than Ken Upton.
The toasts were the highlight of the evening. Steve’s  four younger siblings had some hilarious stories to to share about life in the Leroy family!
Since Steve is a musician we knew the band would be top notch. Steve’s nephew had been the center of attention on the dance floor until this dude stole the show!
Steve and his band stepped in for a set. They were awesome!
Love is in the air…
and some other wierd stuff….don’t ask!

Calabro Family

I have been photographing the beautiful Calabro family since last June when Amanda was pregnant with Cadel. It is so amazing to look through the images all at once to see how the kids have grown. I can’t believe it’s only been a year…..Abby and Cadel have changed so much. It has been so much fun capturing all of these images and creating all the goodies…books, canvas prints, collages and more!
Amanda’s maternity portrait through Cadel’s 6 months portraits were done at my studio and at the Calabro’s home. I just photographed Abby and Cadel last week (at one of my secret spots near Annapolis) which was a little crazy since I have to chase both of them around now!
