Jennice & John

Looking back at my notes from my first meeting with Jennice, I recall forming some vision of how her Brittland Manor wedding would look and feel, but never could I have imagined such an incredible event. With a fabulous Maryland crabfest rehearsal dinner and classic Southern Belle wedding color scheme of “blush and bashful,” (pink and more pink) a red velvet armadillo cake, singers, musicians and dancers on both sides of the family, and a fiance who plays Jerry Lee Lewis on Broadway, I probably should have brought a third shooter, but alas, the invincible Arianne played the part of two people!  We didn’t want to miss a beat with this fun loving and talented group of people, but there were so many details and so little time…such pressure! What a fun and crazy day it was. We wish the love chickens John & Jennice all the best for a lifetime of happiness together, and also for their Broadway tour together with  Million Dollar Quartet!

Great Frogs Winery

So there’s this beautiful vineyard in my neighborhood on Harness Creek Road. I ride my bike past it all the time and wonder who is making wine here, and how can I get in to check it out?! Then I meet Ben at the farmer’s market. He is wearing a Red Sox cap and pouring wine out of the back of his awesome green truck. I buy a bottle of chardonnay with the classic sepia toned Charles Emery image of the Chesapeake Bay oystermen on the label and bring it to an amazing sunset dinner with my family on a friend’s boat. The next week I go back and am smitten again by their dessert wine served with caramel & sea salt covered chocolate chunks. Now it’s high time I use my photojournalistic skills to weasel my way onto the property.

As luck would have it, this is a great time to come out. They are harvesting the grapes right now! Unfortunately most of the work is done in the dark; from midnight to sunrise, but I work with Ben’s brother Nate to find a time when they start picking early so I can photograph it. More great luck ~ it’s a gorgeous evening, and a few friends and neighbors are already there helping with the harvest. I only had an hour to stay since I had to go home and fix dinner for my family, but I had such a great time learning all about what’s happening on the other side of the fence, and I will be back to capture more images of how this fabulous award winning wine ~ Great Frogs ~ is being made right in my backyard.

Thanks Nate for leaving the gate open for me!

Sarah & Sam

Sarah & Sam and I seemed like the perfect fit right from the start. Two journalists looking for a wedding photojournalist for their Jewish wedding at the U.S. Naval Academy’s Miller Chapel with a reception at the Paca House and Garden. Pick me! Pick me! And they did.

It was so much fun working with them on so many levels, but the thing about Sarah that I loved so much (and I’m sure all of her vendors will agree) is how incredibly organized she was. I loved her little notes everywhere. She also followed all of my instructions (hotel room clean, details laid out, dresses out of the bags, tags cut off and artfully arranged for pictures!)  It was almost surreal how smoothly everything flowed on her wedding day. And she was so “in the moment” all day long; enjoying every second of it! Even more remarkable was how despite all of the planning, somehow she was prepared for and ready to roll with the unexpected ~ a series of torrential downpours during the reception!

Sarah and Sam are such a sweet couple. They are the perfect match for each other. It is so wonderful to witness and capture such true love. Arianne and I had a great time working with them, their family & friends. All the best to  S+S for a lifetime of happiness together!

Debby Awde - I love it! The pictures are even more fab than I’d hoped! Sam and Sarah look as happy as they were they whole weekend!

As Sam’s mom, I was thrilled that everything went so perfectly after both Sam and Sarah had spent so much time and emotional energy planning their wedding. It was all so beautiful.July 30, 2013 – 9:09 AM

Kelly & Ryan

Arianne and I just finished our last of ten fabulous events and are really looking forward to two months of free weekends before the fall wedding season hits us. I suspect I will end up editing and blogging most Saturdays since I will not know what to do with myself!

Here is a sneak preview of a wedding which I just cant wait to show off since it took place right here in my hometown. It is just so classic Annapolis ~ from their super preppy theme to the great team of local vendors. Many thanks to the vendors below as well as the Thalenberg family for introducing me to Kelly & Ryan and their wonderful families and friends!

The Thalenberg Girls

What more valuable gift could a person give their mother other than beautiful grandchildren? A portrait session with them! My brides Morgan and Kirby and I worked so hard to coordinate this portrait session, to much success. Since the timing didn’t work out perfectly with the daffodils in my garden in bloom, I cheated and bought the tulips from Whole Foods, but who’s looking at the flowers? These girls are more beautiful than any spring blossom!  I am so thrilled with the results and cant wait to see these images printed and displayed in adorable frames by Beach Bungalow. Thank you Morgan & Kirby for treating your mom to this priceless gift and choosing me to document your growing families!

You are the best! How beautifully you captured my sister, nieces and great nieces! Can’t wait to see the photos from Kirby’s wedding!
