Robin and Ilan

A Whimsical Whirlwind Wedding

This wedding was a bit of a mystery to me. The mother of the groom booked me online from Toronto, and I didn’t meet Robin and Ilan until the day before the wedding when they came to town. Upon meeting them, I learned that the bride indeed was very low-maintenance (as her mom had assured me via email), they had no wedding party, their friends and family were really down to earth, and that this was going to be a really fun Jewish wedding with two really long crazy horahs! What’s not to love about that?

The day was a whirlwind of excitement rich with authentic Jewish traditions; Orthodox Canadian style. We had a blast trying to keep up and capture it all!

We loved working with Shelly from Blue Sky Films, the staff of Dahan Catering, the rockin’ band Kol Chayim Orchestra and the Newton White Mansion. What a fabulous day!

Robin’s flowers were so pretty and simple; a felt button flower or two, created by Megan Hunt, nestled into each group of white gerber daisies.

Robin looked gorgeous lounging on this chair!

Here is David’s shot from another angle!

The B&G greeted their guests in separate rooms during the Kabbalat Panim.

Robin dresses Ilan in a ceremonial robe…

…while Ilan veils his bride during the “Bedecken.”

The horahs were totally insane …. after about 15 minutes they morphed into a conga line, then onto cheerleading, charades and body surfing!

Second horah action by David!

Ilan’s cousin’s toast was outrageous and so belittling. (Oy! What a schmuck!)

The boys enjoying cigars and a fine array of whiskey.

Dave’s take on the aforementioned whiskey selection. Nice!

Andy Sheldon - Great shots. Looking forward to the whole collection. While giving credit, we should mention the excellent band, Kol Chayim.

Amy Sheldon - I would say the horahs became viral – possibly the best horahs ever (IMHO).

Can’t wait to see all the other shots.

Amy Sheldon - Oh and a correction – the shot labeled "the B&G greet their guests during the yichud" should be "the B&G greet their guests during the Kabbalat Panim".

Yoni (the ocusin) - I have to assume you’re not trying to be punny with the use of the term "belittling" in my speech….same for schmuck!

I could have used that line – where were you when I was thinking about the toast?

princess lasertron - Hi there! I’m Megan and I designed the felt flowers in Robin’s bouquet. I was wondering if I could have permission to use your photos in a post on my webpage, giving you full credit?

Bonnie and Paul

Big Bethesda Bash

Amy and I met with Bonnie and her mother a few months ago at our studio, and we both knew right away Bonnie and Paul’s wedding was going to be fun! They are a great couple; on the big day, they braved the rain for group photos and were upbeat the whole time. Even though the weather was not ideal, we captured some great moments and had a wonderful experience!

Bonnie got ready surrounded by her collection of fun photos; a great idea!

My assistant, Missy, captured this ring detail.

A proud papa sees his daughter in her dress for the first time.

Bonnie jokingly practiced her “I’m the bride, and I want it now!” stance. Too funny!

Bonnie and Paul met each other before the ceremony for some pics at McCrillis Gardens, just down the street from the church.

Bethesda United Methodist Church has an amazing ceiling, with great light streaming in from both sides of the sanctuary.

Another nice shot by Missy, this time through the little windows at the back of the church.

The newly married couple drove off in Paul’s restored Mustang…

… and Bonnie waved goodbye to everyone with her bouquet!

Missy’s shot of the couple’s first dance at the Bethesda Country Club.

Paul and Bonnie snuck outside with us for a little nighttime photoshoot in a tunnel at the country club.

The DJ had a crazy light system that projected onto the dance floor, producing some really fun effects!

Amy Raab - OMG…I am all faklempt, AND I have goosebumps! You guys are awesome.

Out of the Blue opening!

Memories of March 7th

Our big night… an amazing celebration of years of hard work come to fruition surrounded by the dear friends, colleagues and clients who have been with us through it all. Thank you all for coming to celebrate with us!

What a perfect time to break away from the gloomy weather and economic forecast with bursts of spring flowers by Jo, decadent food by me, (with a little help from the Boatyard Bar & Grill) live music by Evan and cocktails by Drew from Tsunami who concocted our signature drink, the “Blue Heavenly”.

The night went by so fast, and is such a blur with the exception of these photos. (sorry, we didn’t get a shot of everyone there, and most of them are actually of me…how did that happen? note to self: next time hire a professional photographer AND videographer)

We want to do it all over again. In fact, we think we will..and just make it a Spring Fling!

Looking forward to Spring Fling 2010…. and all the good times in between!
