A Colorful Multicultural Affair

Minah grew up in Ellicott City, Md., but now lives in NYC with her husband, Steven, where they work as television producers for NBC. In fact, they are in Beijing covering the Olympics right now. How cool! For this couple, using photojournalists to document their wedding day was a priority. I chose Jonathan Hanson as my second shooter and we had a blast capturing their action-packed day at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club!

The ceremony was totally backlit from the aisle, but I managed to get
some really cool shots with the sun poking through the blue umbrellas.
This is such a triumphant moment. The minister looks so heavenly as
he pronounces Minah and Steven man and wife.

WHEW. we did it!

YES!!! The group shots are over. It’s party time.

The Source always rocks the house.

The band is only warming up, but we just can’t wait!

Diggin’ the new ring.

CMC - These shots are amazing. Would you be able to tell me the location of the ceremony and reception venues? Thanks

Amy Raab - Thanks for the compliment! We shot at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. I provided a link in the blog text. Check them out!

My girls

My 7 year old daughter Sophie has been impossible to photograph for the past few years. She’s smart enough to know how long  “just one shot” really takes!
Last week her best friend Eva came over. They hadn’t seen each other all summer. They were both missing their front teeth! I begged them for 15 minutes in front of the camera.

Our neighbor Cameron wanted some of the action, too!

Eliza will be 3 in August. She’s just waiting to be discovered.

Jennifer Domenick - Your girls are so beautiful! I think there is a reason they were born to a mom who is a photographer!!!

Meghan - I can’t believe Sophie is 7!!!! She has gotten so big! And Eliza is precious. They are beautiful!

anna bytnar - OMG! Your girls are so beautiful just like their mom. Amy I am so amazed by your awesome talent. Makes me think of the Via days with your photo cards.

A Baltimore 4th of July bash

The couple looked so cute with their dog, Zoe, who was trying to beat the heat all day!

I took a stab at the ring shot, a little technique I was reminded of at a recent gathering of wedding photographers.

Zoe decided it was potty time during the processional!

Cake by Charm City Cakes. It must have been good – by the time Monica and I even thought about trying some, it was gone!

Zoe wanted to dance, too!

These two were on top of the cake, but Monica caught them making out outside!

Nice light spilling into the staircase at the Cloisters Castle. This was my take…

…here is Monica’s!

Kyana and Demetrick’s engagement

David and I met Kyana and Demetrick way back in October of 2007. Their big day will be here so soon!

They recently came out to Annapolis for their engagement session at Quiet Waters Park.   We scheduled it for 6pm, but it was one of those days that never cools down. It just kept getting hotter and hotter! They were such good sports despite the heat. We managed to find some shade for them to get all lovey dovey in!

See you guys in September!

Hollywood Glam comes to Annapolis

Lindsay and Kirk’s vision of a contemporary, yet classic, wedding came to fruition with a totally unique look and feel. Their family and friends converged upon Annapolis from the Eastern Shore and New York in formal black-and-white attire. It was quite a dapper crowd, and I have never seen the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront look so elegant!

Vogue magazine cover?

The bridesmaids’ dresses were more high maintenance than the bride’s!

We love when the B&G have a moment together before the wedding, with time to unwind before the ceremony and do all the group shots, it’s  a great relief to everyone.

We integrated some classic Annapolis architecture into our family formals. This one’s by the State House…

…and this one’s on Maryland Avenue.

My assistant, Monica Hoeffelmurphy, broke out a fun lens for this shot! Go Monica!

I love the ivory and silver combo!

Welcome to the tribe, Lindsay!
