March is here. One more month of dreariness.  I am always so uninspired to shoot anything this time of year for lack of color, but Jason’s Bar Mitzvah is only a few months away, so waiting for spring was just not an option! With a little extra time in Photoshop for added punch (and to take out the red in Jason’s ears) the results are actually not too shabby. The subtle colors in the architecture that are normally overshadowed by grass, foliage or flowers really shine. And so does Jason! I just adore this kid and his family, and loved being a part of big brother Jake’s Bar Mitzvah last spring. Their mom Karen is just so passionate about photography and art. Working with them is all just pure pleasure and joy!

Here are a few of my faves from that freezing cold but fun morning in Annapolis that ended well at Bakers & Co. with coffee & chocolate croissants, and these beautiful images.

Here  is Jason last year at brother Jake’s big day. So cute!

Sarah & Garo

What an incredible journey it has been with Sarah & Garo and their families. My memories and images of them are filled with some of my favorite things ~ autumn, horses, dogs, wine, pottery, salmon, hot spiced cider, Van Morrison …. how lucky am I that we found each other and I was the one to capture their love at the beautiful Brittland Manor on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

All I can say is that this is just one of those weddings where I feel like the three of us were married. I WILL work my way back into their lives now that it’s over … come spring I’ll photograph those horses, and when the time comes, I WILL be baby Ghazarian’s God-photographer!

As usual, this blog post is filled with far too many images…but this one also includes some of my favorites from their engagement session up in Hunt Valley in the fall of 2011. I am still in love with so many of those images, and haven’t been able to decide on which to print for my studio.

A special thanks to my second shooter, the amazing Arianne Teeple and these wedding pros for making the day so fabulous:

Florist: Seaberry Farm

Caterer: Ken’s Creative Kitchen

Videographer: Blue Sky Films

Hair: Abri Harrison, Hair by Jewels

Makeup: Kim Reyes

LOVE these pictures in glass jars! Reminds me of that old song, “If I could save time in a bottle…”
All of the pottery was lovingly created by the MOB, Chris Williams, and her students at her studio, New Phoenix Pottery.

Erica & JT

Erica & JT were referred to us by their friends Becky & Chris Brohawn, whose fabulous wedding David and I photographed back in 2009. What a joy it was to work with this gang again! They are such a tight knit group of friends and family, and boy do they know how to HAVE FUN! I just loved seeing them all again, and rockin’ out with Right Food Red! This wedding was really a piece of cake ~ shooting with my right hand man David Spence, a gorgeous bride and a male model for a groom …… how could we go wrong? Thank you, Erica & JT for choosing us. We wish you all the best for a lifetime of more love, laughter & happiness!

Ali & Alex

Now that I’m back to blogging, I realize that the blogging part is actually not so hard. The most daunting task for me is choosing my favorites. Being “decision impaired” (as we like to call it in my family) as well as a perfectionist can be quite debilitating.

Well, choosing favorites from an engagement session is sure easier than a wedding…this post was a piece of cake! Here are my very personal favorites from Ali & Alex’s engagement session back in October at Ali’s parents home in Easton. I cannot wait to see what the illustrious Jodi Moraru of EVOKE  has in store for us for their big day next September at Kirkland Manor in St. Michaels!

Katie & Scott

We have been so incredibly busy creating and editing so many thousands of wedding images since September that I haven’t been able to take the time to blog in months. And now with the holiday season in full swing, the pressure is really on to meet deadlines…but I just HAD to take some time out today to post Katie & Scott’s most amazing Kiwi American destination DIY detail and food obsessed LOVEFEST!

Heading down to Katie’s parents’ summer home at the southern tip of Maryland that day, I was feeling especially anxious. Arianne and I had a two hour drive, over the Solomon’s Island Bridge. Scary. We were armed with a very detailed schedule of events from A Trendy Wedding, including a huge wedding party and three pages of “must have” detail shots. Also scary. I barely knew a thing about the bride and groom, since we had only met once via Skype. We would soon learn that Katie & Scott, aka “Skatie”, are an incredibly fascinating and fun couple. Katie; an evolutionary biologist, and Scott; a designer and engineer, have a love story spanning from Cambridge, England to the Kalahari Desert of Africa to Cambridge, Massachusetts. Their wedding would be bursting at the seams with handcrafted details by the groom and tons of love from an amazing worldwide collection of friends and family.

We hit the ground running and rose to the challenge of documenting Skatie’s love for each other, their family & friends and every last detail of their day! Driving home that night, I realized that Arianne had performed the superhuman job of being my second and third shooter. She is truly amazing.
