Parks Kids

Back in July I had the honor of photographing the gorgeous parks kids, Alexa and Zach, for the second time. Their mom, Julie, was the highest bidder on my portrait session donation at the annual Temple Beth Shalom auction. I’m curious to see how competitive it will be next year, once all of her friends see the results! I’m happy to raise the stakes for our community, and to photograph these gorgeous kids again!

The first five images are from the first session in 2009 at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis. The recent session was done at their grandparents’ home.

People always say, “they grow up so fast”, but when you are submerged in parenthood every day of your life, you don’t always appreciate having little ones, and the time doesn’t always fly.  The days of wishing never to have to buy another pack of diapers will be someday be replaced by wishing you never bought them an iPhone. Seeing these images together is like watching them grow up before your eyes. Very bittersweet.

Brooke and Frank

When I got the email inquiry from Brooke about her wedding plans; a country wedding at her parents’ farm surrounded by horses, I just knew I had to get it! We ended up booking online, and I didn’t get to meet Brooke and Frank until the week of the wedding when I went out for the site visit. I was so enamored with this couple and the property that I could barely contain myself!

Although I was not lucky enough to grow up in the country surrounded by horses, I sure was lucky to get this wedding. Arianne and I were just loving it all ~ the property, the gardens, the horses, and most of all ~ Brooke and Frank’s wonderful family and friends. Thanks for including us!

A lot of work went into making this wedding as perfect as it was. Friends and family had fun pitching in on the preparations. Johnson’s Nursery did the wedding party flowers, and Brooke’s mom, Joy, and her friends did the other gorgeous arrangements.

Arianne arranged these beautiful ring detail shot. I love the repetition of the circles, symbolism of the marriage in the nest, and if you look closely, the horsehairs woven in.

The wedding party was so much fun! We tried the “wedding party walking shot”, but after the first few steps it was declared too dangerous due to horse patties!

The potting shed was converted into the bar. So cute!

The food and service by Main Street Catering was amazing. (Thank you Joy for looking out for us 😉

The B&G created a rockin playlist for Brian from MyDeeJay.com that was clearly influenced by their parents’ generation  ~ in fact, they were partying harder than the kids!

Priscilla and Glenn

I just loved being a part of Priscilla and Glenn’s classic Annapolis wedding. The wedding party attire really set the tone ~ light, casual and fun! But with twenty gorgeous girls and guys, and the gardens at St. Mary’s and Londontown in full bloom…..we ran across our usual conflict; so much beauty, so little time! Never a dull moment at a wedding like this. A big thanks to my second shooter Arianne for hustling, running defense for me, and capturing so many gorgeous images.

Danica and Todd’s Engagement

Danica & Todd are getting married this September at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. They were referred to us by James and Erin Maitland, whose wedding David and I shot in May 2010. I am sure we will have just as much fun with Danica & Todd and their crew as we did with Erin and James!
For their engagement session, Danica & Todd gave me a tour of their stomping grounds in Baltimore, Federal Hill. We started at their favorite watering hole, No Way Jose Cafe, then just wandered around until they could kiss no more! It was such a fun evening. I’m looking forward to going back to the Cross Street Market for some of that steamed shrimp someday, and seeing Danica & Todd again on September 10th!
